OECD sees increase in CLI
The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) said its composite leading indicator (CLI) rose from a revised 103.8 in December 2004 to 104.1 in January 2005. The December figure was 103.9 prior to being revised. Analysis of the CLI data indicates weak growth in the advanced economies in January. The six-month rate of change for OECD countries as a whole rose 1.8% year-on-year in January. The six-month rate of change points to improved performance in the US, but weakening growth in the Euro zone and the UK. For the US, the CLI rose from 102.6 in December to 103.2 in January. However, the Euro zone CLI fell slightly from 105.9 to 105.7. The UK's CLI also dropped 0.2 points to 100.7. The Japanese CLI remained unchanged at 99.3.OECD sees increase in CLI
