The annual inflation rate of the 34 Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) member countries increased to 2.6 percent in May this year, compared to 2.3 percent in the previous month, according to the latest figures.
Excluding food and energy, annual inflation increased slightly to two percent in May, compared with 1.9 percent in April.
In May as compared with April, annual inflation surged to 2.2 percent in Germany from 1.6 percent, moved up to one percent in Italy from 0.5 percent, rose to two percent in France from 1.6 percent, increased to 2.8 percent in the United States from 2.5 percent, grew to 0.7 percent in Japan from 0.6 percent and increased to 2.3 percent in the United Kingdom from 2.2 percent, while it remained unchanged at 2.2 percent in Canada.
