Nucor closes Marion Steel sale

Nucor Corporation announced today, June 3, 2005, that its wholly owned subsidiary, Nucor Steel Marion, Inc. has completed its purchase of all assets of Marion Steel Company. Nucor's Vice Chairman, President, and CEO said, “Marion is an excellent addition and complement to our existing bar products group. We are proud to have the Nucor Steel Marion team as part of the Nucor family." The purchase price is said to be $110 million. The Marion mill is located in Marion, Ohio about 50 miles south of Columbus, Ohio. It has an annual capacity of approximately 400'000 tons of which its products are principally angles, flats, rebar, rounds, and signposts. Nucor and its affiliates manufacture steel products in sixteen states. Its product line includes carbon and alloy steel bars, beams, sheet, and plate; steel joists and joist girders; cold finished steel; steel fasteners; metal building systems; and light gauge steel framing. In addition, Nucor is the nation's largest recycler.
