US-based Nucor Corporation has held the groundbreaking ceremony for its new rebar micro mill in Lexington, North Carolina, according to media reports.

The mill, which will be Nucor’s third rebar micro mill, will create an additional 500 jobs during construction and is scheduled to start production by the end of 2024.

The new mill, which will cost approximately $350 million, will have an annual capacity of 430,000 mt of steel from nearly 100 percent recycled content, as SteelOrbis previously reported.
