The Russian steel producer Novolipetsk Steel has announced the award of a supply contract to Siemens VAI for two new ladle furnaces (LF) to be installed at the basic oxygen furnace (BOF) at its main facility in Lipetsk. The contract is worth €23 million.

The two LFs with a capacity of 160 mt each will be put into operation at the beginning of 2009.

The new equipment will enable NLMK to produce steel grades with ultra-low sulfur content and will facilitate an increase in the mill's production capacity and improve product quality.

The installation of the two new LFs is in line with NLMK's Technical Upgrading Program.
