NLMK completes maintenance of pickling line

Russian steel producer Novolipetsk Steel (NLMK) completed the revamp of its continuous pickling line for hot-rolled strip. According to a company statement released today, the 1.15 million-ton pickling line will enable NLMK to increase the production of hot-rolled pickled strip with high surface quality for further re-rolling. The project, which cost RUB 365 million ($12.9 million), is part of the first stage of NLMK's Technical Upgrade Program launched in 2000. With the recent revamp, personnel working conditions will improve significantly and hydrochloric acid fume emissions will be reduced to a quarter of their previous levels.
