Russian steelmaker Novolipetsk Steel (NLMK) has announced that it has commissioned a new 4 million mt per year RH vacuum degasser as a part of the company's technical upgrade program. With the new vacuum degasser, NLMK aims to ensure production of high quality steel at its continuous casting machines.

With the RH vacuum degasser which cost RUR 3.9 billion ($132.3 million) entering operation, NLMK's steel product mix is expected to be expanded by introducing new grades, including grades for the shipbuilding, automotive and pipe sectors. The new vacuum degasser will supply high quality slabs to NLMK's rolling mills in Russia and Europe.
