The Russian steel producer Novolipetsk Steel (NLMK) has commissioned a new coil slitting line with capacity of 60,000 metric tons per year at its grain-oriented steel (GO) workshop. The new equipment will allow the company to extend its product range to include GO steel strip of width ranging from 80 mm to 400 mm and of thickness ranging from 0.23 mm to 0.30 mm.

The installation of the new line, which cost $10.5 million, was carried out in the framework of the second phase of the company's Technical Upgrading Program for 2007-2011.

In addition, NLMK plans to upgrade its reverse cold strip mill and replace two obsolete production lines with a new pickling line by the end of 2007.
