MOC: Average finished steel price in China down slightly

China's Ministry of Commerce (MOC) has announced that during last week (January 6-12) the overall average finished steel price in China decreased by 0.2 percent week on week.

In the given week, the average prices of 80 mm x 43 mm x 5 mm channel bar, 12 mm diameter rebar and 6.5 mm diameter high-speed wire rod were down 0.4 percent, 0.3 percent and 0.3 percent week on week, respectively.

In the week ending January 12, the average price of minerals in China was down 0.1 percent compared to the previous week. In particular, the average prices of tin ore, zinc ore, copper ore and lead ore were down 2.7 percent, one percent, 0.7 percent and 0.6 percent respectively, while the average price of iron ore remained stable .

In the given week, the average price of non-ferrous metals in China was down 0.7 percent compared to the previous week. The average price of nickel (Ni >= 99.2%) remained stable week on week.

In addition, in the week in question the average price of energy in China was down 1.2 percent week on week. The average prices of brown coal, bituminous coal and anthracite coal were down 3.7 percent, 2.2 percent and 1.8 percent respectively, all week on week.
