MMK ups Jan-Oct steel production

During the January-October 2006 period, the Russian steelmaker Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works (MMK) recorded a 9.4 percent increase in crude steel production, a 9.9 percent rise in finished steel products output, a 3 percent increase in pig iron production, a 0.1 increase in coke production, a 7.2 rise in agglomerate production and a 6.9 percent decrease in iron ore production as compared to the same period of last year. The respective figures in metric tons were 10.3 million, 9.96 million, 8.2 million, 4.6 million, 9.06 million and 1.2 million. During the period in question, MMK shipped for export 42.3 percent of its production. In October alone, MMK produced 136,900 metric tons of iron ore, 825,500 metric tons of agglomerate, 429,300 metric tons of coke, 761,300 metric tons of pig iron, 1.04 million metric tons of finished steel products and 1.09 million metric tons of crude steel. During the same period, MMK shipped for export 46.4 percent of its production.
