Russian steel producer Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works (MMK) has announced that its share in the domestic galvanized steel products market was 31 percent in 2015, adding that it plans to maintain its position in the Russian coated steel products market despite the projected decline in consumption in the current year.

According to MMK, in 2015 it shipped 86 percent of its galvanized steel products to the domestic market, while the remaining 14 percent went to CIS countries and abroad. The company indicated that the domestic market continues to be a priority for MMK in the current year.

In addition, MMK stated that it will establish a new slitting unit to expand the range of its product mix. The construction of the new equipment will be completed in May, and production will begin in May or in June.
