Mittal USA opens galvanized sheet line
Mittal Steel USA's Cleveland, Ohio plant started producing galvanized sheet this week as part of a $70 million investment to renovate an old line into one that produces rust-resistant steel. The plant will produce 700'000 nt of hot dip galvanized sheet per year to serve the auto industry and other customers. "We have plants in Canada, the US, Mexico, Poland, the Ukraine, China, Kazakhstan, but one thing we don't have is a more productive plant than the Cleveland plant," said Mittal USA CEO Lou Schorsch. The new line will add 80 new jobs to the existing 1'560 workers currently employed at the Cleveland plant.
