Mittal to restart Weirton blast furnace
Mittal Steel USA announced Monday that it will restart Weirtons (West Virginia) Number 1 blast furnace later today, Tuesday June 7, 2005, or Wednesday. A general industry slowdown has forced furnace shutdowns throughout the North American steel industry. The Weirton furnace has been offline for 10 days and will take 2-3 days to resume full normal operation. Mittal states that unless business picks up the furnace will be shut down for another week in the last week of July.Mittal to restart Weirton blast furnace
