Mexico initiates sunset review of carbon pipes from the US

Thursday, 07 May 2020 23:07:12 (GMT+3)   |   Sao Paulo

Mexico’s economy secretariat, SE, will start a sunset review on imports of certain line pipe products from the US, following a request from Mexican producer Tubacero.

The products subject to the review fall under the HTS codes 7305.11.01 and 7305.12.01, and are manufactured under the American Petroleum Institute (API) 5L grade.

The sunset review covers carbon steel tubing with straight longitudinal seam, including electric resistance weld (ERW), double submerged arc welded (DSAW) and submerged-arc welding (SAW) pipes.

Currently, imports of the product pay a 25.43 percent anti-dumping (AD) tariff, while all imports coming from Berg Europipe Holding Corporation pay a 6.7 percent levy.

SE said the review period starts on January 1, 2019, and ends on December 31, 2019, while the analysis period goes from January 1, 2015, to December 31, 2019.
