Monterrey, Mexico-based Mexican tube producer Forza Steel will build a $60 million production facility in the Brownsville, Texas seaport to produce an average of 20,000 metric tons (mt) of finished steel products, according to local Texan press reports.
Press reports say that the Mexican company will import a monthly average of 22,000 mt of steel to manufacture 20,000 mt of finished products.
Forza Steel is a company specialized in the manufacture of carbon steel pipes, with a 106,000-square-meter plant located in the city of Salinas Victoria, 25 miles north of Nuevo Leon's capital, Monterrey.
The Mexican company said it will take advantage of the logistical advantages (rail, truck and/or ship) of the Port of Brownsville to serve the US market.
The new 60,000-square-meter plant will manufacture tubes for the automotive, construction, and energy (oil and gas) industries.
In Mexico, Forza Steel 's main clients are state companies: Pemex and the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE). Among the private companies are Villacero, Serviacero, Fortacero, Ferrecabsa, Grupo Collado, Aceromex, Aceros Ocotlan, Tubos Monterrey, Aceros del Toro, among others, according to their website.
