Mexican producer Cablesa objects to antidumping duties

Mexican steel wire producer Cablesa has reportedly filed an appeal to the Court of International Trade, objecting to US Department of Commerce's (DOC) decision to impose antidumping duties on its exports. As previously reported by SteelOrbis, on January 28, 2004 DOC imposed antidumping duty order on prestressed concrete (PC) steel wire strands imported from five countries, including Mexican producer Cablesa. The duty margin determined for Cablesa was 77.20%. DOC determined to impose antidumping duty on the subject product upon the request filed by PC coalition, which claimed that Cablesa, in order to avoid the subject duties applies an extremely light zinc coating to its PC strands and calls the product “galvanized” strand. The appeal is stated to be pending before the court.
