Mexican energy sector contractor Fermaca announced this week that it has won the bid to construct the El Encino-La Laguna pipeline, which will transport natural gas from Texas to Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) plants in Chihuahua, Durango and Coahuila, along with the central and western regions of Mexico.

The CFE calculated the project to cost around US$1.291 billion, but Fermaca won the bid with US$530 million.

The construction of El Encino-La Laguna pipeline will generate over 1,300 jobs during the duration of the work and the material to implement the project will be supplied by Villacero and Tubacero.
