Mexican domestic welded steel pipe prices closed at US$915/mt ex-mill this week, reflecting a drop of US$45/mt during the last two weeks. Meanwhile, structural tubing prices fell US$20/mt in the same period to reach US$861/mt ex-mill.

Apparently the last quarter of the year will not have many surprises or announcements of investment in public works, according to sources. The change of administration in Mexico brought great excitement about the upcoming investments in infrastructure projects, some of these much needed and highly publicized for several years.

However, experts are not optimistic about the speed at which these projects can be implemented. Little is said of the progress that is needed to start projects, but there is a moderate amount of planning, so that many expect increased activity in the first half of the new government's second year in command.
