Ukraine's largest vertically-integrated mining and steel group Metinvest has announced that it plans to increase the efficiency of the 160-mt basic oxygen furnace (BOF) at its steelmaking subsidiary Yenakievo Iron and Steel Works (EMZ) following a UAH 100 million ($12.5 million) overhaul.

Accordingly, the BOF overhaul at EMZ is planned to be carried out in June-July 2011 within the framework of the continuous improvement, reconstruction and modernization of Metinvest's production facilities. The overhaul will include the replacement of the BOF's shell and the modernization of the gas exhaust duct.
