Metalloinvest, a leading global iron ore and hot briquetted iron (HBI) producer based in Russia, has announced its operational results for the first quarter of the current year.
Accordingly, in the given quarter Metalloinvest's iron ore production decreased by 2.6 percent quarter on quarter to 10.07 million mt. Its iron ore shipments increased slightly by 0.4 percent quarter on quarter in the same period to 2.79 million mt.
Metalloinvest's pellet production and shipment volumes in the first quarter amounted to 5.98 million mt and 3.24 million mt, down 5.8 percent and declining by 16 percent respectively, both quarter on quarter. The decrease in the company’s pellet production in the given quarter resulted from scheduled maintenance works.
In the first quarter, Metalloinvest's crude steel production was up 1.1 percent to 1.23 million mt, while its pig iron output went down by 8.5 percent to 642,000 mt, as a result of scheduled major maintenance works at one of the company’s blast furnaces, both quarter on quarter.
