The Russian steel and iron ore producer Metalloinvest Holding (Metalloinvest) is considering the construction of a cargo terminal at Taman Peninsula seaport, the Russian newspaper Kommersant has reported.

Experts estimate the project at a value of $100 million, but say that it may face some problems as the seaport is being built by the government.

Currently, Metalloinvest does not own any port facilities and all the company's exports goes through Ukrainian ports and Novorossiysk. Metalloinvest exports about 50 percent of its annual output.
