Mechel’s Izhstal increases stainless steel output in 2017

Russian mining and steel group Mechel has announced that its subsidiary Izhstal, a specialty steel and stainless long products manufacturer, increased production of stainless steel by 11 percent year on year to 17,400 mt in 2017.

In 2017, Izhstal mastered production of over 1,800 steel grades, including 300 stainless steels. The plant also produces constructional, alloyed, instrumental, high-speed, spring and bearing steels.

Sergei Kozennov, Izhstal’s managing director, stated that stainless steels are one of the company’s most profitable products and increasing their production helps improve the plant’s economical efficiency.
