Mechel, one of the leading Russian mining and steel groups, has announced that according to the report released by the Russian association of hardware producers Prommetiz, in January and February this year its steel division plants retained their leading position among Russian hardware producers which are members of the association.
According to the survey, having achieved first position in this field at the end of 2009, in January and February 2010 two plants in Mechel's steel division, namely, Beloretsk Metallurgical Plant and Vyartsilya Metal Products Plant, jointly produced more hardware than any other Russian member-company of the Prommetiz association.
Specifically, in January and February this year Beloretsk Metallurgical Plant produced over 64,500 mt of hardware, while Vyartsilya Metal Products Plant's hardware output amounted to about 17,000 mt. In January this year, members of the Prommetiz association produced 105,600 mt of hardware, while in February they produced 119,600 mt.
In addition to these two plants, which are members of the Prommetiz association, Mechel's steel division includes one more hardware manufacturing plant Izhstal, which in the first two months of 2010 produced 5,600 mt of hardware.
