Mechel launches seasonal washing plant at Elga coal deposit

Russia-based mining and steelmaking company Mechel has announced the commissioning of a seasonal washing plant and production of the first volumes of concentrate of coking coal mined at the Elga deposit located in the Sakha Republic (Yakutia) of the Russian Federation.
 
The plant’s processing capacity is up to 3 million mt per annum, while capital expenditure for the plant reached approximately RUR 2 billion (about $64.7 million). According to Mechel, the newly built washing plant fully complies with the best international standards. The  technological process is fully computerized and is managed from a central console, allowing for control of all processing systems in real time.
