Manufacturing jobs within the US increase month-on-month from April to May

According to a June 4 report by the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, manufacturing and mining industry employment experienced a month-on-month boost, while construction employment declined.

Manufacturing employment increased by a total of 29,000 jobs during the month of May. Further, factory employment has indicated an increase of 126,000 jobs over the past five months. Within manufacturing, both fabricated metals and machinery added jobs in May.

Also of interest- employment in mining continued to increase in May, with a gain of 10,000 jobs throughout the month. Since October 2009, mining employment has expanded by 50,000.
