Major Chinese shipbuilding enterprises see gross profit of RMB 9.5 billion in H1

In the January-June period this year, 76 monitored major Chinese shipbuilding enterprises registered an operating revenue of RMB 276.7 billion ($38.8 billion), up 24 percent year on year, while posting a gross profit of RMB 9.5 billion ($1.3 billion), as announced by the China Association of the National Shipbuilding Industry (CANSI).

In the January-June period, the new shipbuilding order volumes held by China, South Korea and Japan accounted for 72.6 percent, 18.8 percent and 6.9 percent of the overall new shipbuilding order volume in the global market.

In the first six months this year, China’s shipbuilding export volume amounted to a value of $11.21 billion, up 7.7 percent year on year.

CANSI stated that China’s Shipbuilding Capacity Utilization Monitoring Index stood at 798 points in the April-June period this year, nearly reaching 800 points for the first time in the past ten years and constituting the highest level in recent years, up 14 percent year on year, while rising by 3.4 percent quarter on quarter.
