UK-based London Mining, a global diversified miner targeting the steel sector, has stated that it is on track to achieve its full year target of 1.5 million mt of iron ore concentrate from its Marampa mine located in Sierra Leone.
London Mining has made a positive start in 2012, producing 300,000 dry mt of iron ore and shipping over 230,000 dry mt to Europe and China in the first quarter of 2012. Since the end of the first quarter, London Mining has reached an average daily output of 4,300 mt which is in line with the company's ramp-up plans.
Regarding the construction of coke ovens at the La Nina facilities in Colombia, London Mining said that the works have been delayed due to heavy rains in the region, though the facilities produced 5,800 mt of coking coal during the first quarter, while the annual production target remains at 200,000 mt.
