Turkey’s Koc Metalurji has restarted its crude steel production on December 1 after being idle for around two months. According to a company representative, the current capacity utilization rate of the steelmaking complex, capable of 1.2 million mt per year production, is around 40-45 percent. The company expects the utilization rate to remain below 50 percent during the winter period.

In addition, Koc Metalurji has announced it will restart its rebar rolling line on December 3 at 50 percent capacity utilization rate. The facility is capable of up to 550,000 mt of rebar production per year. As a result, the company will remain concentrated on the billet trade rather than on rebar, SteelOrbis understands.

In addition, Koc Metalurji continues active work in obtaining various infrastructure and conformity certifications from different countries, which will help the company to strengthen its export positions. In particular, the UK Cares certificate has been recently obtained for both its billet and construction iron.
