Kobe Steel to cease chromate-treated EG sheet production

Japanese steel producer Kobe Steel Inc has recently announced that it plans to cease production of chromate-treated electrogalvanized steel sheet by March 2005 as many companies have started to reduce or cease production of subject product due to environmental factors. In fact, the product has been produced for fifty years as it increases sheet's resistance to corrosion. However in order not to damage the environment, Kobe Steel has announced that it decided to produce electrogalvanized steel sheets free of chromate.
