JSW’s crude steel output rises in May

One of the largest Indian steelmakers JSW Steel Ltd has posted a 25 percent year-on-year growth in crude steel production for May.

JSW produced 724,000 mt of crude steel in the given month, increasing by 1.26 percent compared to the previous month. During May, JSW Steel produced 512,000 mt of flat rolled products, up 31 percent, while long rolled product output amounted to 149,000 mt, increasing by 27 percent, both compared to the corresponding month of the previous year.

According to JSW, the capacity utilization at Vijayanagar works remained at 80 percent in May this year due to constraints in availability of iron ore in the state of Karnataka.
