JSW Steel, one of the largest Indian steelmakers, has posted a 29 percent year-on-year increase in crude steel production to 985,000 mt for August of the current year.
According to the company's statement, in August this year JSW Steel produced 824,000 mt of flat rolled products, up 60 percent, while its long rolled product output amounted to 128,000 mt, decreasing by 13 percent, both compared to the same month of the previous year.

The capacity utilization in the given month remained at about 80 percent at JSW Steel's Vijayanagar works due to iron ore shortage caused by inordinate delays in opening category A and B mines even after the order by India's Supreme Court in April this year for the resumption of mining operations.
