Jindal Steel and Power commissions continuous slab caster

Austria-based plantmaker Siemens Metals Technologies has announced that the single-strand continuous slab caster it supplied to Indian steel producer Jindal Steel & Power Ltd. (JSPL) commenced operations at the company's Angul plant.
 
The slab caster has an annual capacity of 1.5 million mt and it produces a broad range of grades that extends from ultra-low-carbon to high-carbon steels. Slabs will be cast at thicknesses of 200, 260 and 300 mm and in widths from 1,000 to 2,300 mm.
 
The continuous caster is part of an integrated steelworks in Angul in the state of Odisha and is to produce around six million mt of steel per year.
