The provincial authorities in Jiangsu, China, stated on September 4, that Jiangsu Province will halt production of independent coking plants along rivers and in the Lake Taihu area by the end of 2018, while other independent coking plants in other regions of Jiangsu Province will withdraw from production by the end of 2020.

By the end of 2020, Jiangsu Province will initially form two steel industry agglomeration areas along rivers and by the sea, which will likely result in the elimination of 4.0 million mt of steelmaking capacity.
