In March this year, Japan's iron and steel product exports amounted to 3.49 million metric tons, up 17.2 percent month on month and increasing by 26 percent year on year, according to the customs statistics released by the Japan Iron and Steel Federation (JISF).
In the January-March period of this year, Japanese iron and steel product exports amounted to 9.3 million mt, rising by 22.5 percent compared to the same period of the previous year.
Regarding Japan's major iron and steel product export markets, in the first three months of the year the country's iron and steel exports to South Korea totaled 1.43 million metric tons, up 17.7 percent, while exports to China increased by 7.9 percent to 1.24 million metric tons, the export volume to Taiwan amounted to 669,219 metric tons, up by 66.6 percent, exports to Thailand totaled 1.17 million metric tons, falling by 3.3 percent, while exports to the US totaled 258,303 metric tons, falling by 30.7 percent, all year on year.
