Japan’s scrap exports up 24.8 percent in Jan-Feb

According to statistics released by Japan's Ministry of Finance, Japan's ferrous scrap exports totaled 836,476 metric tons in February this year, rising by 13.7 percent month on month and up 19.25 percent compared to February 2012.

In the first two months of 2013, the country's scrap exports amounted to 1.6 million mt, increasing 24.8 percent over the same period of the previous year.

In February this year, Japanese scrap exports to South Korea totaled 514,899 metric tons, while exports to China amounted to 255,836 metric tons, increasing by 22.8 percent and down 1.5 percent respectively, both compared to the same month of the previous year.
