According to statistics released by Japan's Ministry of Finance, Japan's ferrous scrap exports totaled 630,132 metric tons in September this year, decreasing by 13.4 percent month on month and up 36.5 percent compared to September 2011.
In September this year, Japanese scrap exports to South Korea totaled 413,709 metric tons, while exports to China amounted to 183,946 metric tons, decreasing by 13.9 percent and down 9.5 percent respectively, both compared to August.
Meanwhile, in the first nine months of this year, Japan's scrap exports amounted to 6.2 million metric tons, increasing by 64.6 percent year on year, as the country's scrap exports started to recover following the earthquake and tsunami which hit Japan on March 11, 2011.
