Japan’s new vehicle sales keep sliding

Japan's domestic sales of new cars, trucks and buses fell for the fourth consecutive month in October due to the rising fuel prices, the Japan Automobile Dealers' Association (JADA) said. JADA indicated that October sales of new vehicles fell 3.4 percent year on year to 281'452 units. Passenger car sales decreased 5 percent to 239'047 units last month. On the other hand, bus sales rose 31.8 percent to 1'135 units and truck sales increased 6.4 percent to 41'270 units. Separately, the Japanese Mini-Vehicle Association disclosed that mini-vehicle sales reached 146'033 units, a year-on-year increase of 8.4 percent. Sales last month fell at four of Japan's 12 automakers, including at Toyota Motor Corporation and Nissan Motor Company Ltd.
