According to statistics released by Japan's Ministry of Finance, Japan's coking coal imports totaled 6.8 million metric tons in September this year, rising by 2.4 percent month on month and up 27.3 percent compared to September 2011.
In the first nine months of 2012, Japan's coking coal imports amounted to 54.6 million metric tons, increasing by 6.8 percent year on year.
In the first three quarters of this year, Japan's coking coal imports from Australia amounted to 28.7 million metric tons, up 5.5 compared to the same period of last year, while Indonesia exported 13.5 million mt of coking coal to Japan in the January-September period of this year, rising by 23.9 percent year on year.
