Japan’s coking coal imports up 10.5 percent in Jan over Dec

According to statistics released by Japan's Ministry of Finance, Japan's coking coal imports totaled 6.1 million metric tons in January this year, rising by 10.5 percent month on month and down 4.35 percent compared to January 2012.

In January, Japan's coking coal imports from Australia amounted to 3.2 million metric tons, up 17.15 compared to the previous month, while Indonesia exported 1.8 million mt of coking coal to Japan in January, falling by 3.2 percent month on month.

In 2012, Japan's coking coal imports had amounted to 71.5 million metric tons, increasing by 4.1 percent year on year.
