Japan’s coking coal imports down 13.6 percent in Oct from Sept

According to statistics released by Japan's Ministry of Finance, Japan's coking coal imports totaled 5.9 million metric tons in October this year, falling by 13.6 percent month on month and up two percent compared to October 2011.

In the first 10 months of 2012, Japan's coking coal imports amounted to 60.5 million metric tons, increasing by 6.3 percent year on year.

In the first 10 months of this year, Japan's coking coal imports from Australia amounted to 32.2 million metric tons, up 5.9 compared to the same period of last year, while Indonesia exported 14.8 million mt of coking coal to Japan in the January-October period of this year, rising by 22.5 percent year on year.
