Japan’s automobile output up 16.7 percent in July

Japanese automobile production in July this year totaled 922,685 units, increasing by 132,360 units or 16.7 percent compared to the same month of the previous year. The figure indicates a year-on-year rise for the 10th consecutive month, according to the data provided by the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association (JAMA).

Domestic sales in July this year in Japan stood at 513,125 vehicles, up 37.5 percent as compared with the same month of the previous year. In the meantime, the country's automobile exports in July amounted to 417,819 units, up by 7,439 units or 1.8 percent compared to July 2011 and increasing compared to the same month of the previous year for the seventh consecutive month. The revenue generated by these exports amounted to $13.77 billion, including $10 billion for vehicles and $3.7 billion for parts. This is an increase of $530 million or four percent as compared with $13.2 billion recorded for the same month of the previous year.
