Japanese steelmaker JFE Holdings Co. has announced that it will supply its green steel under the brand JGreeX™ to the local company Higaki Shipbuilding Co., Ltd.

Accordingly, Higaki Shipbuilding will benefit from JFE’s JGreeX™ to build a dry bulk carrier named the Bright Queen, which is expected to be the world’s first vessel built entirely with green steel, and will deliver it to the shipping company NYK Bulk & Projects Carriers Ltd (NBP). The vessel in question is scheduled to enter into service in September this year.

Also, the Japanese steelmaker will continue its collaboration with shipping companies to create a new business model in which the cost of carbon reduction is shared across the supply chain.
