Japanese paper confirms sale of Thyssenkrupp’s US mill to Nippon Steel and ArcelorMittal

Japan's Nikkei newspaper reported Tuesday that a deal has been finalized between Thyssenkrupp and a consortium of ArcelorMittal and Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal to purchase Thyssenkrupp's Calvert, Alabama mill.

The report, which did not cite specific sources, added that the acquisition would be split evenly between the buyers, and details of the sale would be available early next month, but some pegged the purchase price to be in the ballpark of US$1.5 billion.
