Japan says no complaints filed for Tavan Tolgoi project

On July 22, Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that it hasn't filed any complaints against Mongolian government regarding Tavan Tolgoi coking coal project, upon the news agency Reuters reported that Japan filed a complaint with Mongolia for Japan's exclusion from Tavan Tolgoi project.

The Ministry clarified the situation further by stating that they have not confirmed the exclusion of Japanese firms from the project yet. On the other hand, the Mongolian government said that the negotiations are still going on since Japanese and South Korean companies are not happy with the results.

As SteelOrbis previously reported, the Mongolian government chose the US-based coal producer Peabody Energy and Chinese coal mining enterprise China Shenua Energy and a Russian-Mongolia consortium for Tavan Tolgoi project.
