Italy's crude steel output down slightly in May

In May this year, Italian crude steel output decreased by 0.8 percent year on year to 2.288 million metric tons, while in the first five months of the year the output figure amounted to 10.939 million mt, up 4.3 percent year on year, according to the figures released by Italian steel producers association Federacciai. The decrease recorded in May was the second consecutive year-on-year decrease, following the four percent decline in April.
 
The output in May of the current year was also lower compared to the crude steel outputs of 2.477 million mt in May 2010, 2.656 million mt in May 2011 and 2.607 million mt in May 2012.
