ISD’s steelmaking subsidiaries issue Q1 production results

Alchevsk Iron and Steel Works (Alchevsk) and Dneprovsky Iron and Steel Works named after F. Dzerzhinsky (DMKD), the steelmaking subsidiaries of the Ukrainian steel producer Industrial Union of Donbass (ISD), have issued their preliminary production results for the first quarter of the current year.
 
Accordingly, in Q1 2011, Alchevsk Iron and Steel Works (Alchevsk) saw its crude steel production increase by nine percent to 948,000 mt, its finished steel product output went up by 21 percent to 962,000 mt, its pig iron production grew by 18 percent to 881,000 mt, while its agglomerate production increased by nine percent to 1.263 million mt, all compared to the same period last year.
 
Meanwhile, DMKD in January-March this year kept its production almost at the levels of the same period last year, with its crude steel output and agglomerate production decreasing both by one percent to 790,000 mt and 1.166 million mt respectively, and its finished steel and pig iron production increasing both by one percent to 747,000 mt and 781,000 mt respectively, all compared to the same period last year.
