ISD’s steelmaking subsidiaries issue Jan 2011 production results

Alchevsk Iron and Steel Works (Alchevsk) and Dneprovsky Iron and Steel Works named after F. Dzerzhinsky (DMKD), the steelmaking subsidiaries of the Ukrainian steel producer Industrial Union of Donbass (ISD), have issued their preliminary production results for January 2011.
 
Accordingly, in the first month of 2011, Alchevsk Iron and Steel Works (Alchevsk) saw its crude steel production increase by 10 percent to 280,000 mt, its finished steel product output went up by 12.4 percent to 262,000 mt, its pig iron production grew by 23.6 percent to 270,000 mt, while its agglomerate production increased by 18.5 percent to 426,000 mt, all compared to the same period last year.
 
Meanwhile, DMKD in January 2011 registered a 20 percent decrease in its crude steel production to 237,000 mt, a 17 percent drop in its finished steel product output to 222,000 mt, a 9.3 percent fall in its pig iron production to 242,000 mt, and a three percent decrease in its agglomerate output to 371,000 mt, all compared to January 2010.
