Iran’s steel production to increase

Iran's steel production capacity is expected to reach 29.1 million tons by the end of the Fourth Five Year Economic Development Plan (2005-2010). National Iranian Steel Company managing director Ahmad Rasti indicates that the country has currently the capacity to produce 12 million tons of steel whereas only 10 million tons out of the total is actually produced. Rasti added that the country will become self-sufficient in steel production by the end of the economic development plan.
