Iran’s steel exports in March 20-July 20 period worth over $1.1 billion

According to a report released by the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO), in the first four months of the current Iranian year (March 20-July 20) the value of exports by the country’s mining and steel industries increased by 30 percent to $2.4 billion, compared to $1.8 billion in the same period last year. 

In the March 20-July 20 period this year, the value of Iran’s steel exports reached over $1.1 billion, while exports of iron ore from the country totaled $227 million in value. 

On the other hand, in the given period the value of imports by Iran’s mining and steel industries decreased by 29 percent to $1.1 billion, compared to $1.6 billion in the corresponding period of 2015. Of the total in question, the steel sector accounted for a share of about $822 million.
