Iranian steelmaker Khouzestan Steel produced 3.024 million mt of semi-finished steel (billet, bloom and slab) in the last Iranian year (ended March 20), representing an increase of 18 percent compared to the previous Iranian year - according to figures announced by Khouzestan Steel managing director Abdolmajid Sharif.
Khouzestan Steel has raised its nominal semi-finished steel output capacity to 3.2 million mt since it upgraded some of its steelmaking equipment and started running its new DRI module, Zam Zam II, in 2009. The steelmaker expects to operate at full capacity in the new Iranian year (started March 21).
